Weekend Adventure

Then God said, "Let there be light", and there was light. Genesis 1:3

It’s great to go out on an adventure with my family, especially when the weather is so nice. These last few days here in Texas has been like spring, but in January. Sunshine, blue skies, warm temperatures and cool nights, I love this weather! Let’s see how long it will last, I heard that it may rain tomorrow.

Right in our back yard

We decided to go and explore our neighborhood. We have a creek behind our home, so off we went. There’re many fish pools, so of course my hubby was happy. I have a little fisherman (girl) that loves to fish with her daddy, sometimes she is the only one that catches fish, but on the other hand, my son loves to skip rocks.
It's this big and this long!

As we continued to hike, we found a fishing lake with a walking path. It was so nice, well my husband and the kids went on to explore, Brook and I decided to walk around the lake, we need to get that exercise in. We had seen other families out spending time together, fishing, riding bikes, and hiking. I was excited that it was right in my own back yard or up the street around the corner.

My little brown button was content in her mother’s arms. Brook had bought a sling just for the hikes; Jayla was all snuggled up and fell fast asleep. I’m really going to miss them, but very thankful to have this time with them. Monday (today) my girls take off back home. I love you my babies!

My Brown Button
The kids really enjoyed our adventure and I know that they will always remember, I think next time we will bring the fishing poles, some skipping rocks, a packed lunch for a picnic , and Jade… then a nice walk around the lake for me.

We found another place to enjoy!

Weight Loss Update Week 4

New Year Resolution Update

This week, I’m going to focus on the amount of points or calories I need. I will also keep track on everything I eat. Most of the time I forget what I ate and go over the amount my body needs. Keeping track helps me not over eat “mindless munching”. Keeping track means writing it down.

When I’m busy or stressful I have a bad habit of unconscious eating, I’m not aware of what I’m putting in my month. That’s such a bad habit. I caught myself last night, my daughter had a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheat spoonfuls, and I grabbed a hand full and started munching. Focus…….self-awareness.

I have my favorite foods I like to eat, and know exacting how many point they’re. I like to eat the same things over and over, so I have them on hand when it’s snack time. Fruit is a better snack, but sometimes I don’t want fruit. Here are my favorites.

1 point for 20 chips

0 points or 2 bags for 1 point
3 points

2 slices for 1 point
Food
I ate the right amount, my stomach is getting full on the small amounts, and I’m eating when I’m hungry. Tonight was hard, because my husband wanted to eat at an all you can eat buffet. So, I let Dennis and the kids serve themselves first, I waited till they were half way through, and then served myself. Half of my plate was veggies, and then I picked Sushi rolls, which, I knew were 6 points. Yes, I did have dessert. On WW I get to have 35 extra points a week. So, I had a small piece of chesses cake and jello.

Exercise

I hiked 4 days out of the week, for about 50 minutes. I’m so proud of myself. I set a goal to hike 5 days out of the week. I have one more day to go.

Scale

This week I love the scale, I lost 2 pounds, and my clothes are fitting much better. My daughter is visiting, and she jumped on the scale, well, my scale is about 7 pounds off. It is really time for me to buy a new scale. Oh, its 7 pounds higher than it should be. Meaning, I’m 7 pounds lighter than I thought. YAY

Weigh

This month I have lost 6 pounds! I weigh 1?2

Until next week…..

Weight Loss Tip for the Week

Drink water! Water is one of a weight manager’s best tools. You will often find it wasn’t food you needed, but fluid.

Fitness Tip for the Week

Add some new activities; you can boost your metabolism with resistance training.

Dining Out Dos and Don’ts

If you know that you’re going to dine out, learn what they serve, and figure out how many points it will be. Example: 1 California roll is 6 points, Taco bell burrito is 7 points ect, ect……

Myth

To lose weight, I have to follow a diet perfectly.

Fact

Weight lose is about progress, not perfection.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts should be established.

A woman I know carried a pocket New Testament with her wherever she went. Often I would see her pull it out of her pocketbook and begin reading. One day I asked her why she seemed so intent on her reading whenever I saw her. She said, 'I read it whenever I get hungry. I'm trying to control my weight, so whenever I feel a physical hunger, I feed myself spiritually instead. It takes my mind off my hunger and puts it where it should be-on the Lord.' What a wonderful lesson. If we will find new ways to include God in our diet, He will turn our thoughts where they need to be!

Today's thought: There are ways to be fed (spiritually without getting fat!)

In Memory of My Brother Rudy

April 6, 1971 - January 28, 2008

We will always love you Rudy M Cano JR!

This is hard for me to write about without crying, all these feelings and emotions are so hard to deal with. I have great memories of my brother. One day, I will share them with you. At this moment, all I can share is what happened that night my mijo went to meet the LORD.

My little brother Rudy has been with Jesus for 3 years today. He really wasn’t little, he was 6’5. He is my younger brother, the fourth child of five. I miss him so, but God wanted my brother to be with Him.

The night he went to be with the LORD was a big shock to us all. Rudy had been sick for about a week, he thought he had the flu. The days went by and he wasn’t getting better but getting worse. I remember my mom calling me and telling me that Rudy was really sick and to pray, he won’t go to the doctors. He got so bad that they finally called 911. My parents and I drove down to the hospital which was 1 ½ hours away.

As my parents and I drove down the mountain, we were praying and wondering what was wrong with him. How sick was he that they had to admit him in the hospital? It never crossed our mind that, that night was going to be our last night with him.

Three months prior to this, my brother had taken a sugar diabetes test or glucose test and passed. So we didn’t think he was a diabetic. It does run in our family. That night, when we went into the emergency room, we found out that his blood sugar was at 800 mg and went up to 1700mg. He was going in and out of conscientiousness. I believe that he was waiting for us to arrive.

He told me I love you,and told my parents how much he loved them, he winked his eye at me and then fell asleep. The last thing he had said was, “ Mom , Mom, I Love You Mom”.

I LOVE YOU BROTHER!

A little bit after midnight, my Parents and Pastor Espinoza were with him when he passed, his heart stopped beating. He is with the LORD!

That night was the worst night, especially for my parents. I can’t image how hard it is to lose a child. Please keep them in prayer, the pain is still there and will be for the rest of their lives.

You are missed brother and I can’t wait to be in heaven with you, worshiping Jesus!

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalm 27:13

This is my Brother

The Hike at Windmill Hill Preserve

I haven’t hiked these trails in such a long time and it felt so good when I did yesterday and today! I know these trails real well. I used to hike them almost every day. My daughters and I decided that we will hike them every day this week. We do need the exercised, since this past week we didn’t do anything.

Brook and I want and need to lose weight. Jade on the other hand just wants to be fit. We both have baby weight to lose, Brook had her baby 4 months ago and I had mine 8 years ago. I know what your going to say, “8 year to lose the weight?” Yeah, I’ll blame it on my babies!

As you know my new year’s resolution is to lose this weight. Exercise is in the resolution plan. We hiked for 50 minutes yesterday and today. Up and down hills, I was exhausted but it was worth it in the end. I accomplished what I started. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week.

It makes it so much fun when you have others that want to exercise with you. I’m so thankful that I get to work out with my girls. I use to hike with my other daughter Megan when she lived with me, but she got married and left me. Megan, why do you want to leave me? (Big Fat Greek Wedding)

These trails are small but nice, it has trees, streams, bridges, and it is surrounded by homes. You can’t get lost! Matter of fact, I could walk to them but instead I drive. I would rather hike then walk and have cars pass me by. Plus the trails have better scenery and it’s peaceful.

Thank you Father, for such a beautiful place that I can enjoy.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:4

My Nephews Arrival James Martin Williamson JR.

James Martin Williamson JR.
Mommy pucker up and give me a kiss.

We headed out to the hospital with excitement waiting for the new addition to our family. Amber was admitted about 7:30 am January 21, 2011; she was induced about 10am. Little James was a week late. Daddy was home for mid-deployment R&R so he can bond with his son before he returns to Afghanistan for 6 more months.

James Martin Williamson was born January 22, 2011 at 8:01. He weighed 7 pounds 1.8 oz and was 19.5 inches long. We are so happy that he is finally here. God is good!

As family and friends waited we all guessed when he would arrive, I said, “10:30pm”, to be honest I don’t remember anyone else’s guesses except James, he said “at the right time.” We all hoped it would be that day but when 12midnight came around we were all exhausted and didn’t care as long as the baby and my sister were fine. I don’t think any of us got real sleep. Well, I know my parents didn’t, they were up the whole time waiting.

Finally the doctor came in about 7am and said, “We can’t wait any more” for some reason every time they would increase the amount of pitocin the baby’s heart beat would drop. Not good! They ended up giving her a c-section. We all laid hands on her and my Dad and James prayed to God “please let everything be fine”…. God answered our prayers, James JR and my sister are fine.

We were all able to see Amber meet her baby for the first time. As the tears rolled down her eyes with thanksgiving and joy, to see her baby from God was a treat to us all. The proud parents couldn’t keep their eyes off the amazing gift they just received.

I am so thankful to be part of this great miracle! “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” “For You formed my inward parts: You covered me in my mother’s womb I will praise You, for I am wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well Psalm 139

Congratulation Sister and Brother-in-law! We are totally blessed.
