I Want To Be Like You

Through this storm I want to learn

How to be like You

I cry out to You and yearn

See me through this storm

Give me strength to continue on

And know that You will perform

A work within my soul and mind

To make me more like you

As I go through this storm I will find

And hear your words,

“Peace, be still”.

Jesus, I want to be like You

He sharpens his tongue like a sword

And bends his bow

And shoots his arrows at my heart

Help me to know Your love will always flow

Like a river and heal this broken vessel

I give it all to You, my anger ,my hurts, my pain

I will not continue to wrestle

But be thankful, for you are My defender

Do what You need to do within me

Because You are my God that is so tender

Working to make me more like You

More patient, more gentle, more loving

More forgiving, more merciful, and more gracious

My God, I will rejoice and trust in You

I want to be like you

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.

Your faith that God will take care of you is an encouragement to see. You say, "Jesus, I want to be like you." I hear lots of people say that in a number of different ways. I truly believe that is the honest desire of your heart; to be like Jesus.

I love your poetry. Keep on writing you are touching lives.
