Mr. Melvin Brown lives across the street from us. His wife passed away a few months ago from cancer. He lives alone but stays busy. He’s has a cattle ranch in Kaufman where he raises Angus beef. He has invited us to go on a field trip to his ranch any time we like.
He has served us and the country in the Air Force, and the Army. He fought in World War 2 and the Korean War. We had the pleasure to see all his medals and awards. Many great stories!
He also served in the church; he was a missionary to about 5 different countries. He had the honor to share Christ and baptize many people; his grandson was one of them.
The reason I’m sharing this is because we (including me), forget our senior citizens. He is 85 years old and has a lot to share and offer. It saddens me; there are so many seniors left alone, no one to take care of them. The majority in this neighborhood are seniors. We should take the time to talk and check up on them, ask if they need anything. The word says,” Do on to others has you would want them to do on to you.” It’s the golden rule.
He loves to play his base, he taught himself 5 year ago. We are never too old to learn. As some of you know Jade plays the guitar (and piano). It was so nice to have him over and listen to them jam together.
